WILDLIFE WATCHING
IN CHAMROUSSE

A pivotal space, nestled between cool, dark forests and sun-baked cliffs, the ridges offer a rich habitat for wildlife. We set off to explore them on a spectacular hike that may well reward us with some wonderful wildlife sightings.

Recommended duration : FULL DAY in summer, HALF DAY in winter
Recommended season : ALL YEAR ROUND
Public : HIKERS - CURIOUS ABOUT NATURE
Hike Description

The hike will begin gently through peat bogs and their birch trees, accompanied by the sounds of forest songbirds. We will soon reach a steep spruce forest, then pines as soon as the sun reaches the shaded areas. Once on the ridges, panoramic views will unfold over the Trièves valleys, Mont Aiguille, and the Taillefer massif.

We will hike along impressive vistas without ever putting ourselves in danger.

In winter, we will limit the outing to about half a day to allow time for observation and to minimize disturbance to the animals: Black grouse and chamois may not survive the winter if they are too often driven from their wintering grounds.

In summer or spring, we can extend our hike, picnic by a pristine lake, search for marmot burrows along our route, and scan the skies for birds of prey soaring overhead.

In autumn, birch, rowan, and bilberry trees will compete with the low-angled sunlight to offer us magnificent shades of orange.

I'll lend you binoculars and a spotting scope so you can enjoy observing the wildlife from a distance.

To offer you the most immersive experience possible and to respect the tranquility of the area, groups are limited to six participants on this outing.
