Hike Description

We'll stay on easy trails to discover the world of the night. As darkness falls, our eyes will adjust to the low light, and we'll enter the world of nocturnal animals.

I'll tell you about the different techniques animals have developed to inhabit the night: nocturnal birds of prey, foxes, bats, and more. These specialists use senses unique to their species and skills we no longer possess. We'll try walking without headlamps at first to rediscover sensations from another era and awaken our other senses: smell, touch, and especially hearing, which we tend to neglect in our daily lives.

Once the night sky is fully illuminated, we'll examine the brightest celestial bodies. Will you be able to recognize the planets among the thousands of stars? Do you know how to find the North Star, which indicates the Earth's geographic North? Do you know the Greek story behind the constellation Orion and the one the Sami tell about the Big Dipper?

Late in the evening, for groups who wish to participate, a light painting session can be organized: everyone can unleash their creativity by drawing colorful designs with their headlamps on the night photos. Drawing contests, reverse writing, ghost faces and silhouettes—it will be an opportunity to get some fun group photos for a unique souvenir!
